This is a space to celebrate hiking, backpacking, and all outdoor adventures.

My name is Savannah "Songbird" Robinson and I am thrilled to announce the beginning of my blog! This is a space for outdoor adventure lovers. Whether you are an active wanderer seeking to swap stories, a beginner looking for tips and inspiration to break into the outdoor world, or you simply enjoy reading adventure tales and seeing photos of beautiful places, then this is the spot for you!

Trail Journals

I completed my first backpacking trip after I graduated college and easily fell in love with it. Several years of weekend trips culminated in me doing my first long distance thru hike in 2021, the Pacific Crest Trail. I followed that up with the Superior Hiking Trail one month later. These experiences spurred me to thru hike the Appalachian Trail in 2022. It is now 2023, and I am planning my next big thru hike, the Continental Divide Trail. If all goes well, I will hike these three big trails, the Triple Crown, in three years.

I will be keeping a blog journal for my CDT hike this summer 2023, and will be updating it live here. While I kept written accounts and took a lot of photos for my other thru hikes, I didn't keep a blog. I have been spending a lot of time turning these journals and pictures into intelligible and sharable blog posts. But it is taking a long time to read through what I had written for myself and turn that into something I feel proud to share. It's quite the project. Plus, I keep getting distracted as I fawn over my own memories, journals, and photos.

In my ideal world, I would have been able to write everything up from my first three thru hikes before I begin my CDT thru hike attempt this season. Then, I could have released everything in chronological order. But by the time I realized that I wanted to keep a blog of my hikes, I simply didn't have enough time to type up those 253 days of hiking. I still want to update my CDT journal live and I don't want to delay that. So, I will continue to work on those previous trail journals and upload what I can before I leave for my CDT attempt, and resume working on them when I return. Thank you for your patience and support as I get those up and ready. I am so excited to have this space where I can share my journeys.

Join Me

While I'm entering my third year of long distance hiking, this feels like only the beginning. My heart belongs to the trail. With over 5,000 miles under my feet, I hope to earn many more. There are so many trails in the world and I want to spend my life seeing and experiencing all that is out there.

I created this space to post my adventures, inspire others, exchange knowledge, and incite discussion. Through my travels, I have discovered so much fulfilment and joy and I want to be able to share those experiences. I aim to be honest and tell my whole story, from the jubilant highs, to the extreme mundane, to the unpleasant realities. My goal is to aid in making the outdoors accessible to everyone. I hope you follow along and come hike with me!
